Position Overview:

The primary role of the Business Development Associate is to prospect for new clients by; networking, cold calling, advertising, or other means of generating interest from potential clients. They must then plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential clients to do business with the company. They must develop a rapport with new clients, and set targets for sales and provide support that will continually improve the relationship.

They are also required to grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new solutions and services to clients. The Business Development Associate will work with In Suits team overall and have an enthusiastic approach to life. He/she may manage the activities of others responsible for developing business for the company.

Strategic planning is a key part of this job description, since it is this positions responsibility to develop the pipeline of new business coming in to the company. This requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and of the company’s competitors. While the exact responsibilities will vary from company to company, the main duties of the Business Development Associate are as follows:

New Business Development

  • Prospect for potential new clients of both ISM and on behalf of ISM clients, and turn this into increased business.
  • Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities. * Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Set up meetings between client decision makers as required.
  • Plan approaches and pitches. * Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Participate in pricing the solution/service.
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements, and working through differences to a positive conclusion. * Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately with the utmost integrity.
  • Present an image that mirrors In Suits Marketing’s company values.

Client Retention

  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.

Business Development Planning

  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.

Management and Research

  • Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM or other sales management system.
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.
  • Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like pre qualification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
  • Ensure you represent the company in the best light.
  • Present business development training and mentoring to business developers and other internal staff.
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities.
  • Understand the company’s goal and purpose so that will continual to enhance the company’s performance.

Position Overview

Primary function: Responsible for establishing a new company presence within the Bellingham and surrounding area including, representing ISM as ambassador to the business community, developing new clients, recruiting new sales and marketing people and managing the overall function of the Burnaby office.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop sales strategies to achieve organizational sales goals and revenues
  • Identify, target and prospect new ISM clients using sales and marketing Strategies such cold-calling, personal visits, prior referrals as required
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of the sales team
  • Set individual sales targets with sales team and hold accountable
  • Delegate responsibility for customer accounts to sales personnel
  • Co-ordinate sales action plans for individual salespeople
  • Oversee the activities and performance of the sales team
  • Ensure sales team have the necessary resources to perform properly
  • Monitor the achievement of sales objectives by the sales team
  • Liaise with other company functions to ensure achievement of sales objective
  • Provide performance feedback, support and coaching to the sales team

Education and Experience

  • Business degree or related professional qualification

Position Overview

Start relationships with new customers and working to make appointments for sales representatives who will meet in person with the client. This is accomplished by using scripts, product knowledge, and communications skills. You will be working to engage the customer and ask questions that keep the conversation going. Making the initial contact is crucial in the handing off of the prospect to the company’s representative, once interest is established or an appointment is made. Representatives must have excellent communication skills, including a clear, confident speaking voice and a friendly rapport with customers. While you may work from a script, you must also have the ability to be flexible and creative in dealing with customers. You must represent the company in a positive light at all times. You will also be required to input sales data into a computer while on the phone with a customer, so keyboarding skills are required.
