Engaging Promotions with Genuine Values Works Best

If you reside in the Abbotsford or Mission areas, you might have recently discovered a cute little rubber duck smiling up at you from your doorstep. If you didn’t find our friend, Pete, there’s a good chance you’ve heard about him in the papers or online. If you are one of the few that didn’t see it at all, #HaveYouSeenPete is a recent marketing campaign that In Suits Marketing launched for one of our clients.
Located in Mission, BC and offering full plumbing services from the tap down to the drain, Tap2Drain Plumbing (That’s very clever name, isn’t it?) wanted to attract more clients while conveying a fun and friendly business persona. The campaign idea is simple: participants take a picture of Pete the Rubber Duck, post the pic online and are automatically entered in to a draw that – along with other fabulous prizes – Includes a 2-night getaway to Harrison Hot Springs Resort and Spa. (For more contest details, please visit haveyouseenpete.com.)
Since launching the campaign in early October, ISM has distributed over 2000 client labeled rubber ducks to Tap2Drain’s service area (Mission and Abbotsford). With that strategic distribution, T2D’s Facebook following has increased by 20%, while average engagement in their social media posts has increased by a multiple of 10! It’s not just about the social hits or the number of contest entries, though. The participants seem to be genuinely engaged in the campaign; posting, along with the event hashtag, hundreds of amusing, imaginative and heartwarming photos. The level of participation is beyond our expectations. It seems that people are sending photos more for the fun of it than the chance of winning prizes!
Nonetheless, the heart of the campaign is still about Tap2Drain Plumbing. One look at their website and ISM recognized that T2D is a company with high ideals. Steve, the “nice guy plumber” and owner of Tap2Drain, values hard work, friendship and fun. He is dedication to his family, as well as his employees. These values permeate throughout the company and resonate with many Fraser Valley inhabitants. While in line with the campaign goals – to raise awareness of Tap2Drain Plumbing – the #HaveYouSeenPete concept also communicates the fun and approachable mood that the client wanted to convey. The idea behind Pete is more than a marketing stunt – it’s a campaign that genuinely raises the client’s brand awareness to a higher, more positive level.
Tap2Drain’s unique #HaveYouSeenPete campaign will conclude early in the new year and ISM can again confidently claim another successful marketing project. Our creative team is looking forward to continued ingenuity and even more success.
